Board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon, Dr.
Maughan grew up in Cache Valley. After attending local Sky View High
School, he traveled to Montreal, Canada where he spoke French and for
2 years served as an LDS missionary. Upon return, he studied at Utah
State University; He graduated with honors and still found time to meet
his wife Rachel. His medical schooling began in Glendale, AZ at
Midwestern University/Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Maughan took on many local and national leadership positions
during medical school. He held a place on the AOA Board of Trustees,
the Bureau of Medical Education, and the Oregon Medical Board. He
completed a transitional internship at Good Samaritan Regional
Medical Center in Corvallis, OR before his Dermatology Residency
training at Samaritan Health/Silver Falls Dermatology in Salem, Oregon.
His training continued with a Mohs Micrographic Surgery and
Cutaneous Oncology Fellowship. Dr. Maughan received his board
certification through the American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology.
Among many personally authored publications, Dr. Maughan most
recently added a textbook chapter to the list, for which he wrote a
chapter about surgical instrumentation. He is active in both local and
national medical societies and has had the opportunity to lecture at
several national conferences.
Dr. Maughan savors his time with his wife and their three children. He is
an enthusiast for the outdoors from mountain to ocean as an avid
mountain biker, snow skier, and surfer!
